Nowadays it is normal to buy your new wardrobe online. It will come as no surprise then that the number of clothing merchants on the web has grown by 17% this year. This is shown by recently published figures from the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS).
The only possible disadvantage is that you can't fit the clothes online. At the moment, however, more and more people are experimenting with virtual fitting rooms and avatars, which means that digital clothing fitting will become possible in the short term. This will further reduce the need to go to a physical clothing store.
Clothing is not the only industry in which webshops have grown, there are also considerably more food sellers online this year. The number of webshops in food did not increase that much compared to clothing, yet there are 240 more food sellers online this year compared to the year before. This is a growth of 14%.
Twinkle yesterday published a table of the number of webshops registered with the Chamber of Commerce in the years 2013 and 2014. This shows that the number of webshops, except in the category other non-food, has increased considerably.
